1/1How these words are chosen
Each pack gathers the words a theme actually needs for the speaking and writing tasks, split into general-purpose words and words specific to that theme, with example sentences and audio. Learn one pack and most topics in that theme become sayable.
The grouping is not a generic frequency list. The speaking and writing prompts are clustered by what they are actually about, and each cluster keeps only the words that distinguish it — scaffolding that turns up under every theme, like favoriser or important, is dropped. What remains is the vocabulary that theme genuinely runs on.
Every pack page states how many prompts it covers and which tâches they fall under (Speaking T2/T3, Writing T1/T2/T3), so you can pick by your weakest task instead of working down the list from the top.
How to use a pack
- 1.Read the sample prompts first — they tell you whether you can already speak to this theme.
- 2.Run the core words through the flashcards; words that have audio can go straight into dictation, for spelling and listening at the same time.
- 3.Go back to the related prompts and answer one, out loud or in writing. A word sticks once you have used it.
FAQ
- How is a vocab pack different from my vocabulary list?
- Your vocabulary list holds the words you saved while practising, so it is personal to you. A pack is prepared per theme and holds the words prompts on that theme tend to need. Both support flashcards and dictation, and progress is tracked separately.
- How long does one pack take?
- Most packs hold 50 core words; the largest reach around 170. One flashcard pass over 50 words takes about fifteen minutes — the real time goes into putting those words back into an answer.
- Will memorising a pack raise my speaking and writing score?
- Vocabulary is one criterion among several: structure, coherence and grammatical accuracy are graded too. A pack fixes having nothing to say about a theme, not how you organise an answer — which is why every pack links back to the prompts it came from.
- Do the packs cover listening and reading?
- No. Packs are extracted from speaking and writing prompts only, because those are the tasks that ask you to produce the words. For listening and reading, saving unknown words to your vocabulary list as you practise works better.
