Strategy by Level
A1-A2 (Questions 1-10): Zero Mistakes
These texts are short — everyday signs, ads, or messages. Keyword matching is most effective:
- Read the question first
- Find the matching keyword in the text
- The answer is usually right next to it
Use HiTCF Level Practice to drill A1-A2 questions specifically.
B1-B2 (Questions 11-30): The Main Battlefield
These 20 questions make up most of your score. Texts are longer and require understanding context:
- Read the question first — know what you're looking for
- Locate the key sentence — each answer maps to a specific part of the text
- Eliminate obviously wrong options before choosing
Open-book mode lets you see the answer and key sentence first, then practice to reinforce.
C1-C2 (Questions 31-39): Get What You Can
High-level texts are long and abstract. For CLB 7+, you don't need them all right:
- Getting 3/5 on C1 is great
- Getting 1-2 on C2 is a bonus
- Don't spend too much time on C2 — securing B1-B2 matters more
Time Management
| Level | Questions | Suggested Time |
|---|---|---|
| A1-A2 | 10 | 8 min |
| B1 | 9 | 15 min |
| B2 | 11 | 20 min |
| C1-C2 | 9 | 17 min |
The 3-Step Practice Method
Step 1: Open-Book Review
Open open-book mode and for each question:
- Read the trilingual translation to understand the question
- Check the key sentence to see where the answer comes from
- Save unfamiliar words to your vocabulary notebook
Step 2: Practice Mode
With familiarity, your accuracy improves significantly. Wrong answers go to your review book automatically.
Step 3: Review Book Focus
Questions you got wrong even after seeing the answer = your real weak spots. Focus here for 3x efficiency.
How Many Right for CLB 7+?
Reading CLB 7 requires roughly 453-498 points (~25-28 correct out of 39). Maintain 80%+ on B1-B2 plus a few C1 questions, and you'll make it.
Track your accuracy and CLB estimate on the HiTCF dashboard. Good luck!
