à, en or dans? Transport, time and place
Prepositions other than countries: en voiture but à pied (you get in → en, you straddle it → à); dans 5 minutes (in 5 minutes' time) ≠ en 5 minutes (it took 5 minutes); à / dans / en / chez / sur for places. Plus two classic traps: au printemps (the only season with au) and dans la rue, never sur la rue.

❌ Saying Je pars en 5 minutes when you mean “I'm leaving in 5 minutes” flips the meaning to “it takes me 5 minutes to leave”.

sur la rue(“on the street” misleads: French treats a street as something you are in) - à l'école = at school (studying) · dans l'école = inside the school building
