Futur proche or futur simple? Which future to pick
Not how to form them, but which to choose: futur proche (aller + infinitive) = near / decided / visible sign; futur simple (-rai) = distant / formal / prediction. Same sentence, different nuance. TCF trap: quand/dès que + futur simple, but si + present.

The “how sure / how soon” test

👉 The nearer and surer it is, the more you use proche: Il va pleuvoir (it's coming) · Il pleuvra demain (forecast).

Both are correct, but the meaning shifts:

English uses the present here (“when you arrive”), French needs the future:
